Line Sister Focus: Sabrina

#7 - "SB3" - Sabrina Renee' Sanford-Flint

Line Name(s) and how you got them:
SB3: Southern Bell (I was raised in the South, so yes sir and yes ma'am are apart of my vocabulary), Strictly Business (I love to focus on the business), Sweating Bullets (I sweat alot especially when I am nervous or hot)

What's your favorite memory online?
One of my favorite memories of being online was our moments of unity. From not getting a perm to walking around campus with the same clothes as 29 others to not being alone. The process worked. I went from barely knowing 29 students to an everlasting never-ending sisterhood.

Here's where you BRAG about yourself.
My passion/purpose in life is to help others, especially the youth. I have been blessed to do this at work and in my personal life. I have worked at the Department of Family and Children Services for 14 years. I have been back in my home community for 15 years being a voice through the A. P. Henderson Foundation and my S.T.E.P.S. Society. Finally, my greatest blessings are Anderson Eugene Jamon Byrd and Alexander Emory Donnell Flint. They are the wind beneath my wings.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 1995 self?
What I know now, I would tell my 1995 self to make the most of every situation and opportunity. You only live once.

What's the one thing every woman should have ...and what's the one thing every Delta Women should have?
Every woman should have a black and white outfit. Every Delta woman should have a little red dress.

Name one thing on your bucket-list that you will complete during our 20th Anniversary year? Related to Delta or not.
I don't have a bucket list. I will try to create one during the celebration.

What line sister(s) do you wish you would have gotten to know better during our process?
Donetha Ball

Does your line name still fit?  If not, what name would you give yourself today?
Yes, my three line names still fit me.

Line Sister Focus: Matu

#3 - "Rage" - Matumaini Taylor

What's your favorite memory online?
Wow, there are so many memories. However, nothing beats the night we crossed! After the ceremony I remember all those people letting their hair get frizzy in the rain to see the 30 Restorations of the Pyramid. I tell you when we did that greeting I felt like we nailed it and all those nights at the park tennis courts and all the drama that takes place when you put 30 women together, seemed to fade away. “There is no sorority quite like your sorority cause your sorority is thee sorority.” At that moment did we really realize that it was now our Sorority??

Here's where you BRAG about yourself.

  • I can go to a restaurant taste and meal and go home and recreate it, using only my five senses as a guide.
  • You can give me any subject and I can create a whole Hip Hop moment off the top of my head.
  • I pledged my mother at Inglewood Alumnae chapter so I could go off and fulfill my ministry obligations knowing I had left them in good hands.
  • I have climbed pyramids in Mexico, had my Spanish corrected by orphans in Columbia, bought shoes in the worlds largest mall in the Philippines, study at Oxford University, and walked through the gate of “no return” in Ghana, West Africa.
  • And when I really want to unwind and have a good time, I watch a children’s animated movie, because life is full of deep stuff and I have learned not to take myself too seriously.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 1995 self?
Don’t let people make their issues your issues.

What's the one thing every woman should have ...and what's the one thing every Delta Woman should have?
Every woman should have a dress that makes her feel amazing. Every Delta should have a kind word or compliment on her lips.

Name one thing on your bucket-list that you will complete during our 20th Anniversary year? Related to Delta or not.
I am not sure if there will be any bucket list item completed in 2015. We shall have to wait and see.

What line sister(s) do you wish you would have gotten to know better during our process?
Margo Beshears

Does your line name still fit?  If not, what name would you give yourself to
I guess my name fits from the perspective that it was meant to capture my passion, and the fact that I got lyrical skills. However, I am not mad or anything so I would probably change my line name to, Fire Starter cause I do like to get things started. Plus I am committed to the called to ignite a generation with God’s love.
